BELLE MEADE PLANTATION     West
 
Once a 5,400-acre world-renowned thoroughbred horse farm, today Belle Meade Plantation is today a 30-acre historical site. Period costumed interpreters guide you through the 1853 Greek Revival Mansion; also view 7 historic outbuildings. Living History offered Friday/Saturday, April through October. BELMONT MANSION     West End/Vanderbilt
 
Belmont Mansion, the largest house museum in Tennessee, is one of the few nineteenth century homes where the story revolves around a woman`s history. It was built in 1853 by Adelicia and Joseph Acklen, when she was one of the wealthiest women in America. Her story is one of tragedy, triumph, and romance. The mansion’s lavish furnishings, art, and statuary are an exemplary early Victorian collection.


CARNTON PLANTATION     South
 
Carnton is a national model dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and management of a Franklin, Tennessee house museum, historic landscape and Civil War battle site. We communicate the compelling story of how the November 30, 1864 Battle of Franklin and Reconstruction impacted and changed the families of the McGavock Plantation in the 19th century.
