Belmont Mansion, the largest house museum in Tennessee, is one of the few nineteenth century homes where the story revolves around a woman`s history. It was built in 1853 by Adelicia and Joseph Acklen, when she was one of the wealthiest women in America. Her story is one of tragedy, triumph, and romance. The mansion’s lavish furnishings, art, and statuary are an exemplary early Victorian collection.
 
Long Description : A guided walk through this magnificent antebellum home becomes a journey into American aristocracy. This enormous estate home, built in 1853 by the beautiful and wealthy Adelicia Acklen, is furnished in Victorian opulence with original and period pieces, gilded mirrors, paintings, and marble statues. As you see the lifestyle of a bygone are, you’ll hear Adelicia’s fascinating story as Nashville’s own Steel Magnolia. Her strength and perseverance prevailed through the Civil War, three marriages, the deaths of six children, and the management of one of the largest fortunes in America. Tours begin upon your arrival and require about an hour. The last tour begins at 3:15 pm.

Directions: From I-65, take the Wedgewood Exit (exit 81). At the bottom of the ramp, turn westward and travel one mile. Turn left onto 17th., left onto 18th Ave., and immediately left onto Acklen Ave.
 
Ticket Information :Hours of Operation: Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sundays 1pm-4pm, Last tour begins 3pm, Closed major holidays, please call to verify hours.
